Saying Goodbye to Ethel

We said good bye to our sweet little Ethel pup last weekend.  We first met Ethel about a year and a half ago at the animal shelter we volunteered at.  She was older, not in outstanding health, and scared to death. She had an instant bond with my Hana -  INSTANT - she was shaking,  hiding from everyone else, but climbed right in Hana’s lap and  wanted love.

We brought her home to foster her, and well, she never left ;-)

To my husband, she was “Moaning Myrtle” because she would howl and mope whenever Hana wasn’t at home.  That did get better once she decided we were all okay after all.

But she had a bad heart, arthritis,  4 teeth, and some other assorted problems.  We found out a couple weeks ago that she had a ruptured disc as well.  We gave her meds, love, and oils to make her comfortable but there really wasn’t much more that we could do. She stopped eating and we had to give her water with a syringe, so we knew she didn’t have much time left.

When she did pass,  she was in the arms of Hana, loved to the end.

But poor Hana.  I was so thankful for the Console blend.  While it didn’t take away the pain of losing a furbaby, it did help calm and comfort her (and me too) - kind of like a warm, soft hug. I've always understood that aromatherapy is powerful, but it never ceases to amaze me when I experience it.  I’ve always loved this blend - I connect to it on a deep level, and I certainly appreciated having it on hand for Hana.

If you would,  please say a prayer for her.  It’s better everyday, but Eth was her buddy and it’s so hard to lose a part of the family. Ethel's furbrother, Kirby,  is sad too.  After she passed, he sat Honor Guard by her box/bed resting place until we could give her a burial.  He put his favorite toy right by the box and didn't leave her side.  You can tell he misses her.

Hug your furbaby today for me, okay?

I'm so sorry for your family's loss. It truly is heartbreaking losing a pet. Cudo's to you too for rescuing her and giving her a save loving home.
