One of the new doTERRA oils I’m the most excited about is Copaiba.
It is versatile like Frankincense, and seems just as powerful. I’m including it in my daily oil routine to help me have a solid foundation to build on,
Copaiba essential oil, with its sweet, woodsy aroma, is a product of steam distilling the gum resin tapped from the Brazilian Copaifera reticulata tree. What makes it super special is the impact in can have on our Endocannabinoid System. It’s aroma reminds me of sandalwood, rich, deep, and calming.
Yeah, I asked the same question. The Endocannabinoid system consists of receptors in the brain and throughout the central nervous system. There are two cannabinoid receptors: CB1, predominantly present in the nervous system, connective tissues, gonads, glands, and organs; and CB2, predominantly found in the immune system and its associated structures. Immune response, inflammatory response, memory, and even appetite are influenced by these receptors.
CB2 receptors support healthy nervous system function, proper immune function, and have soothing and relaxing properties on the body (similar to that of CB1), primarily through their ability to regulate inflammation. So these are the receptors anyone with an autoimmune issue would want to focus on.
doTERRA science blog states, “There is a breadth of research that suggests terpenoid compounds found in many essential oils can have a vast influence on these receptors, but the research is particularly strong in regards to one specific sesquiterpene. Recent research has demonstrated that the bicyclic sesquiterpene beta-caryophyllene has the ability to bind to CB2 receptors.
What this means is that along with its cellular and skin-health supporting properties, due to its activation of CB2 receptors, beta-caryophyllene may also support healthy nervous and immune function, and have similar soothing and relaxing properties on the body (similar to that prompted by CB1 activation), without the potential psychoactive side effects.*”
And guess which oil has one of the highest concentrations of beta-caryophyllene?? Yes, Copaiba. It’s composed of more than 50% beta-caryophllene!
So for a balanced immune system and healthy inflammatory response, two things crucial for autoimmune health, this oil can be an all-star, knock it out of the park kind of oil.
I’m using 1 drop sublingually along with one of frankincense each day. I’m feeling clearer, more balanced, and have more energy. I’ve added a few things in to my fitness routine too!
In your diffuser, it would combine well with Lavender for a calming, relaxing blend. Or with Frankincense for focus.
For a roller blend for head tension, try 6 drops each of Copaiba, Frankincense, and Peppermint.
And those are just two suggestions of about a million possibilities. At $30/15mL bottle wholesale, it’s an exceptional value for the powerhouse you’re getting.
